Installing Vitualbox in Aurora

Hi everyone,

I have some issues with the Installation of Virtualbox in Aurora.
I would like to install Virtualbox but i don´t get run the “.rpm” wich i downloaded on the official Website

I run this command “>rpm -ihv filename<” and get a Warning message. It say i have no permission to write on “/usr/share/rpm/.rpm.lock” only read.

Have anyone try to install Virtualbox on Aurora?

Do you really need specifically Virtualbox? From a quick web search, it appears to be a lot harder to do than say GNOME Boxes.

Is there a specific need for you to install virtualbox? There is for example Virt-manager available on the -dx image or you can just dowloand virt-manager and the qemu extension from flathub.

Qemu is way more efficient than virtualbox and doesn’t need to be layered and won’t interfere with updates.

So unless there is specific need for virtualbox, don’t install it.

Anyways, on atomic distros you install rpm files (called layering) with rpm-ostree.
