Initramfs error on nvidia distros

Hi, I’m on a laptop using an Nvidia 4070RTX. After I rebase to the latest nvidia release I get the following error while booting:

error: ../../grub-core/kern/mm.c:552:out of memory.

It’s supposed to be an issue with the initramfs, and since it happened with both Bluefin and Bazzite, I guess is a general problem of ublue.

I hadn’t this error on bluefin-dx-nvidia-open:latest from 2025-06-18, which is the version I’m forced to run.

Here is the output of ujust device-info: UNTITLED - Pastebin Service

Has anyone experienced similar issues? What should I try to fix it?

I have not seen this exact symptom, but after the update on Sunday to my bluefin-dx-nvidia-open:stable install I did suspect a problem in initramfs.

But after troubleshooting more I came to the conclusion that my issue was related to being versions of tools, etc. out of sync with the nvidia 580 upgrade.

While not the ideal spot for it (I know) - this is where I documented my experience.

I have this GPU:

$ lspci | grep NVIDIA
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GA107M [GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Mobile] (rev a1)
0000:01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GA107 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)

It appears to have been fixed on the latest update bluefin-dx-nvidia-open:latest-42.20250820.1 (2025-08-20T04:35:25Z)
