Hello,
I would like to migrate from silverblue to bluefin-dx. I actually have some packages installed with rpm-ostree and some flatpaks packages.
What is the best way to migrate to bluefin-dx ?
Should I install it from scratch ?
Should I “rebase” my system ? If yes, do I need to remove my rpm-ostree packages ? Can I keep my flatpaks ?
Thanks for your advice

Welcome to Universal Blue !
Installing from rebase is not officially supported
Flatpaks or layered package could raise conflicts

Hello there!
I have been happily using silverblue-nvidia images for a while now and decided to give bluefin-nvida a try.
Rebasing worked fine, however, the default Flatpaks didn’t get installed (easy enough to fix) which made me wonder whether there was any other setup that would differentiate my current system from a clean Bluefin installation? If so, how would I change that (ideally without having to do a clean install myself)?
Same for the reverse, if I decided to go back to Silverblue, wo…
It could also happen by rebasing between Universal Blue images (i.e. from Bazzite to Bluefin)

Hi, I’m new here.
I had Bluefin installed and then made a switch to Bazzite with the officially provided command.
rpm-ostree rebase ostree-unverified-registry:ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite-gnome:stable
When I made the switch I had some flatpak apps installed manually in Bluefin.
At the first boot, in Bazzite’s Welcome window, I selected some of the apps that had been already installed, assuming it would be smart enough to skip already installed apps. But apparently, it has added duplicated entrie…
Installing from scratch would give the best result, but can be tiresome
Anyway, if you want to continue, my advices would be the following:
pin your current working deployment before rebasing :
sudo ostree admin pin 0

We should look at a functional equivalent of a ChromeOS "powerwash": https://sup… port.google.com/chromebook/answer/183084?hl=en
If you ever have issues with /etc
after rebasing / updating:
Delete the file and then copy from /user/etc
