Help: Install uBlue images via Parallels Desktop on macOS

A similar post was made back in March posted by @voigt so I wanted to start a fresh topic with added context. Hope that’s okay.

Some general info: Work in web design and front-end development. Have always loved open source and want to get involved in the community. Would love to contribute my skills to these projects one day if I can get past some initial hurdles I’m hitting.

I’m pretty new to the Linux world but dove in quick. Immediately loved what I read and saw regarding Bluefin. Watched some of @j0rge 's videos… vibes.

But here’s my main issue: I’m on a Macbook Pro M1 Pro running Parallels Desktop Pro running Silverblue, as I haven’t been able to find Aarch64 (ARM64) .iso repos for any of the uBlue suite. I’ve been reading up on BlueBuild for this but haven’t quite figured it out so wanted to post here.

The other main issue that I haven’t been able to solve running Silverblue is installing Parallels Tools on Linux. It appears this has long been an issue with Parallels not supporting Fedora/Linux in general? To complicate matters, Silverblue is on Parallels’ radar even less.

Finally, I’m super interested in what I’m seeing with Hyprland and would love to know if that setup would be compatible with my needs above, once I iron those issues out.

I grew up on Windows in the early 90s and have been veering into Apple fanboi land since the early aughts. I have seen the light and am ready to jump into Linux, but I’m also not in a place to just dump my still very capable Macbook and upend my work life.

Currently there are no viable AARCH64 images to base uBlue on ARM on. I think Fedora has some “testing” images done for ARM but they are not production ready, those would be mostly based on Asahi stuff.

Once all that is sorted out, you could of course build your own image with Hyprland but I don’t think there is any official interest on bringing that to under uBlue umbrella, even on x86. Of course if someone is creates it and can maintain it completely.
