Hello this is what I get when I try to install Aurora on my
Razer Blade 15 i7-10750H, GTX1660Ti laptop.
Any idea what to do? (the install starts normally and when it’s about to start Anaconda installer UI i get this screen)
I got the same thing on my custom-made PC with an NVIDIA RTX3060 card. We’re not alone: Trouble with 20250511 installer? - Bazzite. I had downloaded the Bazzite 42 Nvidia Open ISO, and was stuck on the white/gray screen.
I found that the Bazzite site also offers a BitTorrent link, and that it had not been updated to Bazzite 42 yet: it was the 41 version. I got that version by BitTorrent and the installation worked. I just wanted to try out Bazzite though, I knew I wanted Aurora because I had installed it on my laptop first. So I rebased to Aurora.
I haven’t had any problem with Aurora 41 DX Nvidia Open driver on my PC, it received a couple of 41 updates then 42 yesterday. It works fine.
Rather than trying this convoluted way (and no guarantee the BitTorrent link is still Bazzite 41), I suggest you try with the regular Aurora AMD/Intel ISO, not the NVIDIA ISO. Maybe it’s an NVIDIA driver problem with the installer. If it works, you’ll be able to rebase to the NVIDIA version.
The other post links to a Reddit post where someone posted that the May 13 Bazzite image fixed the problem. The fix may be coming soon to Aurora.
I had a white screen when I tried the Bluefin installer today. It acted strangely when I booted, throwing errors and going through some verification process, so I thought maybe writing the usb stick went wrong.
Thank you for the replies, It appears that Bazzite was able to be successfully installed with the latest release. I will check if that distro (bazzite) is enough for my C++, C# and game engine ventures and the occasional gaming. If it isn’t I will hop on as to your suggestion to Aurora AMD or Nvidia if it is fixed.
Thank you John for the reply as well, at least Bazzite was alright to be installed.
We know that some machines have issues with the current F42 installer but some don’t.
We have now switched the installer to use Fedora 41 installer, which should not have these issues.
Just to note, the new ISO is now building in GH. So if you download a new ISO once the build has completed you will notice that the installer says the version 41. But it will still install the current stable version which is based on 42.
