I haven’t had any real issues with Gaming on Aurora, but has anybody got any specific tips of any particular issues they have encountered on Aurora that they would like to share?
Steam works fine for me as a flatpak, but if you are doing a custom image (I do that), is there any real advantage baking it into the image like Bazzite does? (just an example).
I’ve been using Aurora for a little under a year as a gaming PC with no issues. I appreciate that it has fewer bells & whistles than Bazzite, but runs my game libraries well enough for me. I’ve used Steam as a flatpak the whole time, no issues.
The only issue I’ve encountered is that some Wine applications think I have a 4k monitor, when in reality I have 1080p. That results in a lower DPI, making text unreadably small. Took me an embarrassingly long time to find the Wine configuration to manually correct DPI, now everything works as well as I could hope it to.
Thats encouraging. I’m fine staying with the flatpak if its not too much of a problem. I’ve been running Aurora for 6 months now on my laptop, and am going to replace the OS (Debian) with Aurora on my large desktop rig and that has my large GPU that I occasionally use for gaming, so I just wanted to make sure there aren’t any gotchas with steam since on Debian its not a flatpak but straight install.
