Hi
I have been a Mac user for over twenty years, but moved over to a Framework 13 AMD laptop around a year ago. Since then I have been dabbling in different Linux distributions, and I was surprised and amazed at how much better the experience around ease-of-use and stability has become over the last few years.
I love the work that is being done on both Bluefin and Bazzite Having an immutable distribution that implements changes on a user-level resonates with me, as does using homebrew as a package manager.
I wanted to call out just two tiny cosmetic issues that I noticed as part of the Bluefin user experience on the Framework AMD system.
-
As part of the initial installation the monospace font for the system is set at a size of 18 points. This makes its presence felt once the terminal is opened, and is easily fixed through Gnome Tweaks. This issues does not occur on Bazzite, so there must be some presets being set as part of the Bluefin installation.
-
The spinning wait cursor on Bluefin keeps flickering and disappearing - which also does not happen on Bazzite or Fedora in general. I would love to figure out how to fix this.
Sweating the small details as part of the onboarding experience ensures that new Linux folks feel comfortable with their setup. I am aware that there’s probably more pressing issues on the road map to take care of, but I still wanted to take the time to call them out.
Really appreciating all the great work that you’re putting into this, and very much looking forward to see how Bluefin and Bazzite evolve in the coming years
