Citrix workspace

Hey,

i am completely new on linux. I have tested a few Distributions. Bazzite seems fine. But for me it was Not possible to install citrix workspace. I Want to open the citrix ica files from Firefox .

Can someone tell me step by step what i have to do? ChatGPT was no help for me :frowning:

I’ll be quite honest with you. On every Linux distro I’ver used, getting Citrix to work is a tough slog. Why citrix doesn’t create a flatpak for it is beyond me, its the perfect canidate for it. there are all sorts of dependencies.

You MIGHT be able to get away running it out of distrobox or toolbox.

I’d ask the AI for confirmed methods of running citrix out of distrobox under a supported version of Ubuntu by citrix and see if that is something that might work.

@Mrfragger I got Citrix Workspace running successfully by installing fedora 40 in Distroshelf, then installing the .rpm package in that Container. Remember to enable gui for that container when creating it using terminal: distrobox create --name appbox-gui --image fedora:40 --gui. I don’t remember if I had to install anything else to get GUI applications working properly in Distroshelf. I named my container appbox-gui, but you can name it whatever you like.

do you use a PIV card with that? My organization uses them for Citrix, and I know that PIV card authentication can be flaky. I’m not sure how that would even work in Distrobox like you used.

We use SSO for authentication, so not sure how you would go about using a PIV card sadly. Hope you figure it out, but you should be able to pass on peripheral devices to a distrobox.
