Can I rebase (safely) from Aurora to Bazzite?

I’ve been a happy Aurora user for many months now, but I’m noticing a few minor issues on my desktop lately, and I was wondering if it would be possible to rebase to Bazzite without losing all my settings and configurations, or is it better to perform a fresh install and then restore all my data?

I do have a separate SSD for my /var/home, and I can easily restore from a full backup if need be. I’m on the “latest” update stream version, if that makes any difference.

Yes, that is supported, but you need to make sure that anything you’ve done that directly uses a specific feature of Aurora (like ZFS) is understood, as you will lose that feature.

So you’re confirming that I can do the rebase without any (major) issues? Great, thanks.

Although, since they are quite similar, it seems unlikely that it will solve very many issues.

It might be more productive to troubleshoot the issues in place instead of bouncing around.

I already tried. I understand that Bazzite is not 100% structured like the other two versions, and I was interested to see if my hardware responded somehow differently to it. Thanky for the reply.

Pin your current working (booted) version then rebase to whatever, and test it. If it fails, just rollback to the pinned version.

Great, I never realised that I could pin an image from different versions. Thanks.
