No idea why or how. I was setting up some things like PaperWM (cool!) and generally fiddling around with a new OS to get my feelers attuned. Seems great, aside from the wezterm flatpak crashing.
However, sometimes when I reboot, everything I’ve done is gone. Completely wiped out. I’m sent back to a vanilla install desktop. It’s mind-boggling, because it never happened while I was testing for it specifically yesterday. My dark mode setting had just toggled itself right off, so I set to exploring why, and across a dozen reboots I never saw anything but dark mode revert. And even then, only sometimes. I probably toggled dark mode myself without noticing what I’d done, because I really don’t think there was a bug here.
Then, just as I was ready to say I am happy with it, I reboot one last time. Then, disaster. My $HOME is undisturbed, no apps are uninstalled, but my desktop is 100% vanilla. Monitor configuration is reset, dock has re-pinned the default apps (and unpinned mine), and my zshell won’t load its configurations from $HOME, GNOME extensions have vanished. No idea if there’s more that reverted or not.
