Same here. I’ve settled for flatpak and an Arch Linux distrobox for my CLI needs plus a custom devcontainer for programming.
I hadn’t heard the tip about not changing your user profile shell, but instead just configuring your terminal to open the desired shell. Makes sense that this is less error prone.
