This doesn’t happen every time, but every so often when I attempt to shut down bazzite, I will see my motherboard logo, a spinning circle, and the bazzite logo. The spinning logo eventually disappears but the other two remain. I left it for hours in case it was updating or something but I eventually held the power switch to shut it down. Any idea what might cause this? Is there a way for me to disable the splash screen so I can see what the os is trying to do when shutting down?
Hit the escape key on this screen and it should revert to the console output and give you more information as to what may be causing it.
Also, I think it could be a Plasma bug. Try switching off through terminal (running “shutdown now”) and see if that works reliably.
The delete key does give me the console output so I will need to do that for a while to catch the issue in the act. If it yields anything interesting I can post another topic about it.
Ok, manage to get it when it hung. It got to “Reached target poweroff.target - System Power Off. Im starting to notice this happening when topgrade updates something.
Hi, I’d like to say that I have also been having the same issue. It seems to freeze right at the end of the shutdown process. The last line in the console is exactly what I see as above.
It might be time to take this to the Bazzite github You can also try to open an issue on the Discord if you want a faster solution.
I’ve had this happen off and on for months. It seems to have gotten better over the medium term, but still randomly happens. I have to physically turn off or reset the computer which is sometimes a challenge cause it’s in another room.
I have the exact same issue. I’ve had it for weeks as well: Bazzite crashes when shutting down from Gaming Mode
It looks like this bug in GitHub is related. Perhaps we can add more information there: Desktop occasionally gets stuck on motherboard splash screen during shutdown · Issue #2940 · ublue-os/bazzite · GitHub
This would be the best course of action IMHO.
