Hi there, I’ve recently upgraded my pc from a nvidia gtx 970 to an AMD Radeon rx 6900 XT…
I rebased my bazzite from nvidia branch to bazzite, but even before that I started experiencing cracking noises coming from my headset when audio plays as well as (And even more prominently so) from my HDMI device.
I’ve tried rebasing to bazzite-deck but that didn’t work, then back to regular bazzite branch instead, still crackling…
Things I’ve tried:
Double checked that the GPU is plugged in properly and isn’t sagging…
Replaced HDMI cables and even removed 2nd screen
Changed bazzite base
Tried removing USB Headset/using only USB headset
PC Specs:
Operating System: Bazzite 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.14.0
Qt Version: 6.9.0
Kernel Version: 6.14.6-105.bazzite.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT 8-Core Processor
Memory: 31,2 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
Manufacturer: ASUS
Have you tried and tested booting a live image of KDE Fedora? I’d do this just confirm there isn’t an issue hardware wise, the kernel version should be the same as Bazzite, both are on v42 release.
I just had this experience on my Legion Go with the official SteamOS its dam awful, onboard audio and my XM5 bluetooth headphones were doing it.
I also experienced a major issue when I ran Bazzite on my R7 5800X with a RX 6900 XT, the GPU clocks would not ramp up and the card seemed to be locked at some low TDP and I could not resolve it, ended up putting that machine back on Windblows as performance was terrible, so maybe look at that as well, too low TDP for CPU and GPU will cause audio stutter sometimes.
Thanks for the reply, TDP was fine, but I noticed something strange, I think I might have a grounding issue on my one screen, when I unplugged it and started the pc again for testing, the audio is now perfect, another issue has popped up though but I am unsure if its even related to bazzite, however it started happening explicitly after I reset my bazzite…
So upon first startup, the pc status leds goes up to VGA, then reboots, thereafter it progresses to boot (Green light) and gets stuck, the boot light only turns off after I access the bios, then a quick reset and everything works fine
