APX package manager for Fedora?

Is it possible to make the APX package manager integrated into Bazzite, Bluefin, etc.? Can the team running these projects reach out to the Vanilla OS team? If multiple teams get behind something like this it will help bring Linux a huge step forward in having an agnostic package manager, a true Universal Installer.

Thank!

I started playing with it today, defining a ā€˜new package managerā€™ in apx and mapping itā€™s generic commands to rpm-ostree. Havenā€™t taken it further but am curious how it would map to distroboxes. Also, if we could build the APX GUI (whatever itā€™s called), which becomes a universal tool, like rolling a distrobox GUI into Discover.

Yes!!! This is exactly what I was thinking too! APX with a ā€œStoreā€ / ā€œDiscoverā€ GUI. Implementing this would make migration from Windows or Mac, much more approachable and further the adoption of Linux as a whole, IMO. Especially if other distros adopt it.

They have a GUI in VanillaOS. I donā€™t know if it completely replaces the Gnome app store but I assume it covers flatpaks and all the distroboxes.

Yes, making all the existing, distro-vetted packages available alongside flatpaks is a much more welcoming OS.
