Is it possible to make the APX package manager integrated into Bazzite, Bluefin, etc.? Can the team running these projects reach out to the Vanilla OS team? If multiple teams get behind something like this it will help bring Linux a huge step forward in having an agnostic package manager, a true Universal Installer.
I started playing with it today, defining a ānew package managerā in apx and mapping itās generic commands to rpm-ostree. Havenāt taken it further but am curious how it would map to distroboxes. Also, if we could build the APX GUI (whatever itās called), which becomes a universal tool, like rolling a distrobox GUI into Discover.
Yes!!! This is exactly what I was thinking too! APX with a āStoreā / āDiscoverā GUI. Implementing this would make migration from Windows or Mac, much more approachable and further the adoption of Linux as a whole, IMO. Especially if other distros adopt it.
