Wi-Fi (QCA6174) disconnects after some time on Aurora

Hi everyone,

I’m using Aurora (Universal Blue) and my laptop has a Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 (rev 32) Wi-Fi adapter.
It works normally after boot, but after some time, the Wi-Fi suddenly stops working — it disconnects and doesn’t reconnect unless I restart the system.

Here’s what I’ve checked:

lspci -k | grep -A 3 -i network
03:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 32)
Subsystem: Lite-On Communications Inc Device 0807
Kernel driver in use: ath10k_pci
Kernel modules: ath10k_pci

lsmod | grep ath10k shows:

ath10k_pci 65536 0
ath10k_core 712704 1 ath10k_pci
mac80211 1925120 1 ath10k_core
ath 40960 1 ath10k_core
cfg80211 1511424 3 ath,mac80211,ath10k_core

However, there are no errors in dmesg or journal logs, and the Wi-Fi just silently stops responding after a while.
I suspect it might be a power management or firmware issue related to the ath10k_pci driver (maybe WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00309).

Has anyone else experienced this on Aurora?
Is there a recommended fix or kernel parameter to keep the adapter stable over time?

Thanks in advance!

You can try to change to iwd backend

ujust toggle-iwd

Thanks! I ran ujust toggle-iwd and enabled the iwd backend.
After rebooting, I’ll test to see if the Wi-Fi stays stable over time.
I’ll report back if the issue is fixed.

I wanted to report back — the issue seems to be resolved!
My Wi-Fi used to stop working after about one hour of use, but after switching to the iwd backend with ujust toggle-iwd, it’s been stable for over three hours without any dropouts.

Huge thanks to @inffy for the clear and effective suggestion. Everything’s working perfectly now!
