What type of gpu should i choose

This is by far the most “noob“ question ever asked i guess, but bear with me, anyway I have a Lenovo P14s Gen2i with these specs, running fedora 42 kde :
Processors: 8 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.1 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor 1: Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics
Graphics Processor 2: NVIDIA T500
Manufacturer: LENOVO
Product Name: 20VX0011UK
System Version: ThinkPad P14s Gen 2i

And i wanna ask if should i choose the nvidia option in the gpu section, bcz it only says : rtx series|gtx 16** +, I am just a noob, sorry sorry.

Edit : thx for the responses given, such as a beautiful community,

Hi, I’m not an expert, but after checking the nvidia driver download page I’m pretty sure the T500 uses the same graphics driver as modern RTX cards, so I think you should just select the nvidia option anyway.

No need to apologise for asking questions

No, no need to apologize.

Graphic cards are confusing.

E.g. I googled your GPU, and it’s Turing architecture, then I googled that and found out Turing is supported by the Nvidia open driver. And I had previously heard that the “open” driver is the newest, and the one Nvidia recommends.

Which is all to say, it isn’t straightforward, and seems harder than it should be.

Agreed! The update on Sunday for bluefin-dx broke one of the pieces of software I was exploring for development. One of the steps I took to troubleshoot was to chase down the nvidia.com page showing which models were supported. Even the way they present the information is confusing. I ended up searching for the board number and found another site that spelled it out better, Sheesh.

In my case the problem was upstream …

The point we are all making is that GPU support on Linux is not easy to ascertain (read: lots of room for docs improvement). So even I struggle with it.
