As of this post our base images are now defaulting to Fedora 42 with the latest tag:

So, I guess people that want to stick to Fedora 41 for the foreseeable future should switch from stable to gts at this point? (i.e. gts will remain on 41, but stable will soon switch to 42)?

Yep, that is correct!

I have updated one of my PC’s (tablet) to the new Fedora 42 Bluefin image and all looks very good (touch screen batteries included)

There are 2 observations:

  • LUKS now adds a message to the “Enter your password prompt” that shows the UUID of the disk - not sure if this was intended or not and if nouuid option will work
  • the Forged on date is reset to the UNIX Epoch, so now I’m proud to report that my system was forged on 01 Jan 1970

Keep up the good work!

Hi, I notice that Silverblue-Nvidia images are not updated to 42. Should I switch to Silverblue-main instead?

Hang tight we need to enable nvidia images in the main repo still.

Atomic is the best name ever. No ublue/cosmic-atomic?

Is there a plan for when that will happen, or more of a “it’ll be out when ready” kind of thing?

We’re actively working on it.

Is that on 42 already? I can’t tell.

Yep!

This is due to composefs, we have a fix for this somewhere, I’ll take a look this weekend. Enjoy your epic epoch!

when to expect bluefin release on f42?

It’s a few weeks away. You can rebase to :latest if you cannot wait.

Now that the -nvidia latest is on 42. Can we please have the gts label moved to 41?

Thanks!

I have switched to gts which is already 41:

 ~  cat /usr/share/ublue-os/image-info.json
{
  "image-name": "bluefin-dx-nvidia-open",
  "image-flavor": "nvidia-open",
  "image-vendor": "ublue-os",
  "image-ref": "ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/bluefin-dx-nvidia-open",
  "image-tag":"gts",
  "base-image-name": "silverblue",
  "fedora-version": "41"
}

(see last line)

this thread is about the base images. the nvidia builds (HWE) are still on gts 40…
