The keyboard layout does not switch

I need to switch between two keyboard layouts, from Russian to English and back, but when I try to switch languages, the layout itself switches, and when I start typing, I can only type normally in one language. When I switch to another language, the letters on the keyboard just start working like arrows.

I’m having the same problem, does anyone know how to solve it? When I switch languages, any press on the virtual keyboard acts like arrow keys. I’m using a One x player Rexfly 1 pro device. The OS version is the latest, installed on July 25, 2025

does that happen on a Flatpak (app) or it happens even if you start typing lets say on the start menu?

Specifically, I tested this in Firefox and in the settings panel. Right in the same place where the keyboard input verification window is. The only place where the steam virtual keyboard switched the language and worked as expected was steam itself. I will check how it works in the start menu in an hour and provide feedback.

Sorry does that problem only happen on the virtual keyboard of steam or it happens also on the keyboard you are using connected to the OneX?

I checked in the start menu, the situation is the same.

I’m talking specifically about the virtual keyboard. The regular USB keyboard works fine.

On the virtual keyboard, instead of entering the pressed buttons, it seems to emulate the arrows.

My actions are as follows:

  1. I open the start menu and click on the search field;
  2. I open the virtual keyboard;
  3. For example, the virtual keyboard is set to Russian, and the tray is also set to Russian. The virtual keyboard writes properly.
  4. I change the language by clicking on the planet on the virtual keyboard. The language on the virtual keyboard itself changes to English. But in the tray, it still shows ru.
  5. I try to type any word, but instead of typing, it just jumps around the start interface. It’s like pressing tab.

Can reinstalling the system from scratch help? Or is that clearly not the problem and unlikely to help?
