System updates should not override user wallpaper preferences. I do like the wallpaper though

Okay, I love the new wallpaper. I’m keeping it as my default on my desktop. What I don’t love is the system removing the old one from my list of available wallpapers and then replacing my desktop wallpaper with the new one, overriding my preference (which was set as my default) with the new one, when that is a user preference.

it’s perfectly fine to set the new wallpaper as the default on fresh installations. However, on existing systems, whether the user kept the original default wallpaper or changed it to something else, that setting should never be modified during updates. If it’s not a new install, the wallpaper choice belongs to the user and should be respected.

Did you guys just replace the file keeping the same name but just changing the image?

it may sound like I’m mad, not really so! Just wondering why you did it in this way.

We will propably always change the wallpaper to a new one. Just like bluefin does.

I respect that you guys want to change the wallpaper, that’s fine. So what you’re saying is that if I want to keep this wallpaper, I should copy it to a separate location, rename it, and then set my wallpaper to that? That way, it will stay as my default wallpaper forever, no matter what the upstream changes it to?

We have no plans to remove these, so they will stay on the image. We did remove the one AI generated image (which we didn’t know when it was produced that it was AI)

I guess it was because I was using the wallpaper you removed.

yeah this will be the only time this will happen for the aforementioned AI reason. Aurora doesn’t want to support AI art. Let alone AI art from people posing as legitimate ones for profit.
