Should fingerprint authentication always show up?

I’m not sure if this is a Linux issue, Aurora issue, or just normal behaviour, but I guess I’ll ask anyway.

I’ve got a Framework 13 laptop and have biometrics setup on Aurora. It works, and does what it’s supposed to, but I don’t get asked to use my fingerprint as often as I’d think it would.

For example, when I open my laptop and resume my session, I’m greeted with the login screen. Sometimes it will ask for the fingerprint, but usually it asks for a password.

Some SUDO functions will prompt me to use my fingerprint, while others need a password.

Is this all just normal, or is there a way to always have my fingerprint be an option to authenticate?

Yeah the fingerprint stuff is just somewhat finicky. Have noticed the same on my fw13 on aurora.

Works better on gnome IMO

Bio metric auth has been busted for over 5 months with kde. Here’s the bug and fix. who knows why kde isn’t fixing it.
