I am running into an issue where all online games and a few single player games are having insane frame lag/stutter/hitching. It starts on game launch. I have multiple versions of proton and nothing is fixing the issue.
For single player games it is specifically happening ones like ultra kill with a bunch of things happening at once.
My specs are:
Operating System: Bazzite 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2
Kernel Version: 6.16.4-108.bazzite.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 24 × 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-12900K
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.1 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
Graphics Processor 2: Intel® UHD Graphics 770
Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd.
Product Name: MS-7D25
System Version: 2.0
Can you try disabling iGPU in bios? Linux operating systems have trouble automatically detecting the dedicated GPU and instead use the integrated GPU by default sometimes.
I disabled the iGPU, while it did improve performance it didn’t resolve the issue entirely.
It made the games stable for longer periods of time, when it does stutter though, it hangs for a goods 2-3 seconds.
Team fortress 2 saw the best improvement out of all of my games, with minor stutters, every now and again. Nothing though that actually ever made the game unplayable. it would still freeze up though when opening the menu, while actively being in a server.
I tried the games with steam overlay disabled, with little to no improvement.
The main games I am playing right now with the issue are:
Insurgency sandstorm (some improvement)
Titanfall 2 (no improvement)
Ultra kill (no improvement)
Thanks for the assistance!
