New to linux, fairly tech savvy, issues with RPM-OSTREE

Aaaahoy

I’m struggling to install packages with the RPM-OSTREE command, and having read the documentation for Bazzite I’m pretty sure my use cases are appropriate.

First I tried grabbing a package that would let me tweak the sensitivity of the touchpad scrolling and zooming, and that failed.

Now i’m trying to add a package that builds on PAM to let me use a pin for some authentication (yes, I know, more risky in places - my risk to take)

I genuinely don’t know anymore if this is a case of both repo’s being broken in some way or if I’m just messing up despite my best efforts.

If anyone can point me to a good example repo to use RPM-OSTREE for ‘practice’ I’d be grateful.

Below is the specific use case i’m struggling with:

This is what i’m putting in the terminal:
`sudo rpm-ostree install gcc make pam-devel libargon2-devel git`

This is what I get back:

Checking out tree e23de6a... done
error: Failed to load /ostree/deploy/default/deploy/e23de6aae620df1572177727fa2faa84e98d3304163e9a0ba1166309613a4124.1/etc/yum.repos.d/errornointernet-mergerfs-fedora-39.repo: Key file contains line "<!doctype html>" which is not a key-value pair, group, or comment

Not sure what else you have done but that rpm-ostree error looks like you have some totally broken repo file in your system.

That is propably your issue with the rpm-ostree but not sure how you have ended with that repo or repo file:

/etc/yum.repos.d/errornointernet-mergerfs-fedora-39.repo

For some reason you have that repo which looks like to be meant for Fedora 39 which might also cause issues if the repo is not actually maintained.
