Minisforum V3 Desktop Issues on Latest Stable 41.2025215/216

I’m running the Deck/HTPC and when I tried updating to 41.2025216.1 it was throwing some issues due to what I believe was my layered Ghostty terminal (wanted to try it out). I managed to remove and reset however desktop mode fails to display. I hear the sound as if Desktop mode launched but just a blank screen.

Rolling back to 41.2025210 makes desktop mode work again. 41.2025215 seems to also not work. So not sure what changes may have occurred or if my layered Ghostty package tweaked something.

Let me know if anything else is needed to help troubleshoot/resolve the issue.

CPU is Ryzen 7 8840U with 780M iGPU if that is helpful.

Just wanted to update the latest stable seems to be working fine on the desktop now.

Just checking in here with OP about the status of things, as I will receive a refurbished Minisforum V3 tablet soon. Was is the tablet or a desktop that you were using? Did the touchscreen work fine?

I’ve long since moved on from Bazzite but the touchscreen worked. I had some sort of issue I never resolved that caused random freezes and reboots.

I’ve been on CachyOS for ~6 months now with zero issues other than my own tweak failures. I really like Limine and KDE. Touchscreen has worked well enough everywhere on the V3. Games are picky with it but I believe that is a Wayland/X11 vs gamescope issue. When in “gaming mode” using gamescope Steam it is fine. On KDE desktop for gaming the touchscreen is hit or miss.

Edit: for clarification of the post’s title. V3 is a tablet/laptop and “Desktop Issues” referred to being in the HTPC Desktop environment vs the Big Picture/Gamescope mode it boots into.

did your brightness control ever work on bazzite?

It works today on CachyOS and I think it did on Bazzite. I don’t recall any other broken/lacking functionality outside of the known audio issues (see mudkipme’s awesome-minisforum-v3 GitHub repository) and my freezing/crashing issues that I mildly suspect are related to the audio fixes but no concrete evidence.

There were plenty of resources ~2-3 years ago when the V3 was newer regarding Linux (and even Windows) support like the GitHub repo mentioned and some Reddit posts as well. I’m no expert and just fumble my way through with LLM support and curiosity most of the time.

Edit: added current state is working
