So my kid is on the road and tell me that his (Bluefin) laptop won’t boot. I ask for some pictures and it seems to go into “recovery mode” because it can’t find the disk.
I had him use the grub menu to choose the previous installations, they failed at the same point.
Is there something he could run with his current setup?
If I have to send him software, what should I have him download (say, to a USB stick) ?
It seems to be unable to find the disk with uuid start 165f15bc-…
I am not an expert on how the OCI is mounted, but would ask them to press enter and show the output of lsblk -f so you can see what disks are actually visible by the kernel, along with their uuid. The specific UUID will likely not be listed, but at least you’ll know what disks are actually visible by the kernel…
I guess booting with a USB stick of live Fedora/Ubuntu and mounting /var/home to see if the files are there would be useful. If that’s the case I’d just reinstall and preserve /var/home… Not sure how comfortable they’d be doing that…
Ok, that is excellent “desert island advice” thank you. Since I neglected (I think) to give him a Fedora Installer stick. there’s nothing worth saving on the /var/home so the challenge will be to get him an installer image (he’s rock climbing in Nuevo Leon Mexico)
