In my mind, cronie (crontab support) should be part of a standard kde/gnome/whatever system installation.
I know it is not normally provided, but I always want to make sure it is installed.
I use it to do ssd and nvme trims and system updates and of course, scheduling activities such as backups, and other activities.
Crontab, for me, is in the same category as sudo. If a distro provides good sudo support, cronie should be installed as well.
