For example, whenever I connect airpods to my Framework 13 it says connected but when I play audio nothing happens until I disconnect and then reconnect the airpods. Haven’t tried other bluetooth headphones yet. Any ideas?
I feel your pain, and can commiserate , but don’t have a solution. I occasionally have issues like this and need to stop/start the source, disconnect/connect, turn Bluetooth off and on, or forget and repair the device.
I mainly use Bowers & Wilkins Px-8 headphones, but it has happened with my AirPods Max too.
Bluetooth is weird, and I think some of it stems from so many devices using the 2.4GHz spectrum, I.e. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microwave ovens, Zigbee, wireless cameras, remote controls and game controllers, wireless keyboards and mice, etc.
I’ve even had a monitor block my Wi-Fi signal from my router that was 3 meters away.
Sometimes when trying to pair headphones, my computer lists my door lock that is downstairs and 5 meters away, but not my headphones that are in my hand 1.5 meters away.
I’ve had similar problems with my MacBook Pro, and iMac Pro, so I don’t think it’s a Linux problem. But perhaps other OSes are more robust at retrying and maintaining connections?
It is something with the airpods. No other bt headset has these kind of issues than the Airpods Pro.
I can pair them fine but if I disconnect them, the next time I have to change the coded in sound settings to get audio from them. This repeats everytime with the airpods but never with my other bt headsets (like pixel buds pros etc)
I’ve been using Huawei Freebuds Pro (first gen) for a long time and they’ve always worked with Linux. They can even pair with multiple devices and switch between them automatically.
There is one catch though. It’s kind of hard to switch channels when going into a call. Nowadays, when I’m in a Google Meet or Slack Huddle, I can hear and talk from the headset if I’m lucky.
Sometimes the mic is connected from the laptop’s mic or the external webcam’s. Sometimes the mic doesn’t work but I can hear people from the headset. Switching between these configurations may make things even worse.
At some point, this used to work as expected. I listened to my music and when I went into a call, it automatically switched to the right channels. Nowadays, it doesn’t work like that and I’m not sure when this started.
I’m having the exact same issue both with my AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro.
I hope this gets sorted out since on my Arch linux setup. I don’t have such issue.
