Hi
My system is behaving very strangely and I need some help. I’m aware of the sleep issue and have implemented a few fixes already. My setup is an AM5 + Gigabyte X670 GAMING X AX V2 motherboard + Nvidia GPU. I know each of these components has its own issues, but I thought I had everything set up correctly by now.
Unfortunately, every now and then, when waking up, the computer won’t start properly. After a restart with a button, it boots correctly, but the problem recurs every now and then.
Additionally, the system sometimes stops reporting the full amount of memory.
It reported 12, 6 or even 4 GB of available RAM despite having 32 GB. I think this is related to the wake-up errors.
Restart doesn’t solve the problem one time it even made less RAM visible. Only full shutdown and boot solves it.
Do you know of any threads with similar problems?
Do you have any suggestions?
You might wanna take a look at this post as a starting point, it is more laptop-related but the Nvidia hardware issue you are describing appears similar to “Part B: Fix NVIDIA GPU Hang on Resume” in this guide.
Always make sure to do your own research and take precautions before making any changes. I have not tested any of this.
Alternatively, you can always just disable sleep and just use shut down. If on idel for longer periods…put on a power saver profile and turn off monitor, I guess.
Until there is proper open-source firmware for nvidia drivers…this issue is likely to remain. Sorry about that.
Maybe someone else has other possible fixes/suggestions.
