Bazzite September 13th Update

Hello again everyone, we’ve got yet another week of updates for you.

  • A workaround has been put in place for users experiencing blank screens after the Kernel 7.2/HDMI 2.1 update. A full-fix will be available in Kernel 7.3, but for now the issue should be resolved.
    • Huge thanks to everyone who helped test this fix over the last week.
  • Numerous Strix-powered devices now have full TDP control enabled!
    • This also includes the Framework Desktop and we’ll be expanding to some other HTPCs in the near future.
  • TDP control from the desktop returns via a new Applet and Extension on KDE and GNOME respectively!
    • Exposes the full set of controls available in Steam Game mode using the same backend.
    • These are able to be installed locally for use on any other Linux distro that implements steamos-manager for TDP control, including SteamOS itself. RPM packages for Nobara/otherwise can be found on Terra and we’ll expand this to the OGC Arch repo as well. Sharing is caring!
  • InputPlumber v0.79.5 now in use
    • Numerous fixes across all supported handhelds
    • Improved controller polling
    • Improved touchpad experience
  • Wifi power saving now defaults off, this can be toggled back on in gamemode settings.
  • Latest mangohud
    • Issue causing higher power draw under VRR has been resolved
  • Latest gamescope
    • Greatly improved support for HDR on the Legion Go 2
    • Fixed upstream regression affecting AMD 5XX GPUs
  • LSFG-VK ujust installer now installs the new version 2.0 release
  • Now shipping kernel 7.2.4
  • GPU warnings for game mode have been relaxed on our website.
    • Intel is promoted to stable
    • Nvidia game mode images now work with caveats, we’ll upgrade them to stable when the official workaround from Nvidia is available.
  • We now use GamingOnLinux as the source for anti cheat compatibility information on our website.

We are maintaining a project board for the main things we are working on going forward, if you want to watch along or participate in the individual issues you can view it here:

That’s all for now, please keep up the reports – every single one of them is being looked at and worked on, and thank you all again for helping us make Bazzite the best it can be!

Thanks for updating lsfg-vk to version 2. The new version needs lsfg-vk.dll instead of Lossless.dll though so I think it’s best to add a note in the script that the user needs to change the version of the app in Steam under Properties > Game Versions & Betas > then select the lsfg-vk branch. Otherwise the app won’t work. Weird that this step isn’t even in Pancake’s V2 documentation.
