Fresh install of Bazzite on Ally X, using dual boot. Everything works pretty smoothly until reaching the desktop of Bazzite, where the welcome portal does not initiate.
Manually finding it in “All Applications” and clicking on it causes it to seemingly load in the task bar (with circle loading animation) but a couple seconds later it stops and disappears without any error window or anything.
Can’t find this situation anywhere else online, some other software (such as emudeck) don’t give a lot of alternative info on how to install as they usually point to Bazzite’s portal as their solution- i.e. “Install EmuDeck through Bazzite’s portal.” So for a person not really accustomed to KDE or Bazzite it’s pretty confusing… Any ideas?
You might get a better idea of why it doesn’t open if you invoke it from within a terminal window. I think you can get the executable name by right clicking on the menu item and checking out the shortcut’s properties and once you know the name of the executable, open a terminal window and invoke it and see if it prints any error messages before terminating…
I’m now starting to wonder when this broke, before and after my changes. I’ll have to take a look into this, but it’s all just ujust commands and Flatpaks. Thanks for bringing this to attention.
Edit: Yup, my change in unstable moved to testing and is now in stable, and it seems some of my fixes were overwrote when the testing branch was merged into unstable
