Since the launch of Deck 44, Bazzite has continued to grow and picked up over 300 additional commits. And we’re almost 2,000 devices away from 100,000 weekly active devices.
It’s safe to say things have kept moving.
Some of the more noticeable changes this round include:
- Kernel 7.2.8, along with continued hardware support improvements.
- Latest InputPlumber with improved gyro and rumble support, among many other fixes.
- Fixed an issue with Bluetooth failing to initialize on some hardware.
- Fixed an issue where certain keyboards could fail to type.
- Better MediaTek Wi-Fi reliability for systems using MT7921 and MT7922 adapters.
- Nvidia users can now enjoy hardware-accelerated Waydroid!
- HDMI CEC now works on the Steam Machine
- Convertible laptops like the Framework 12 now get a touchscreen navigation bar on our GNOME desktop images.
- A fix for suspend issues on the ASUS ROG Ally.
- Fixed new installs sometimes failing to load the desktop on our KDE images.
- Firmware pinning is gone now that the issue it was working around has been fixed upstream.
- Firefox Native Messaging is now supported OOTB. You can use KeePass and similar extensions without workarounds.
- KDE virtual monitor setup is a little clearer, including better guidance around the 503 error fix.
- GNOME extensions have been refreshed to newer versions.
- Plus a bunch of smaller cleanup around portals, web apps, services, and “ujust”.
- Special Bonus: Some of our initial commits for the ASUS XBOX Ally X20 have landed.
This isn’t a “big release,” but sometimes that’s the point. Small improvements keep landing, and more of that work is moving upstream where it belongs so the entire Linux gaming ecosystem benefits.
We’ll begin turning our attention toward Fedora 45, newer kernel versions, and what’s coming next. There are also plenty of new features still on the way that will help showcase the power of the Open Gaming Collective.
As always, thanks to everyone reporting issues, testing, providing logs, and contributing fixes. Bazzite would not be what it is without the community behind it!
