Bazzite June 2026 Update

I’ve encountered the same issue. The main branch of Bazzite has been steadily progressing, but the stable branch of the Deck version is still stuck at 20260420, which seems intentional. However, the good news is that the testing branch of the Deck is also being updated frequently, indicating that they are still actively pushing forward.

I’m guessing it’s pending the OGC (Open Gaming Collective) kernel and InputPlumber migration.

I assume they are having issues with the deck version, lots of changes that most likely break all sorts of things, everytime I test the testing version, I end up with a non booting system, this is on multiple machines and a broad range of hardware, would be nice to see at least the kernel updated on the stable release of the deck version, I’ve been patiently waiting now for 7 months for an updated kernel, there is specific fixes in 6.18 and 6.19 for hardware I use and I support a very large number of machines that are out in wild (DIY Steam Machine AKA Bazzite Box), I fear a lot of people running this hardware have rolled over to CachyOS instead, I provide all my tweaks, benchmarks, performance metrics and support based on Bazzite, but after testing CahyOS, there is some large gaps in performance now based purely on the newer kernel.

Bazzite Deck 44 is in testing and is welcoming additional testers, if you want it sooner the best thing you can do is switch and report any issues in GitHub.

Run “brh rebase testing” from an existing deck install.

I actually need to eat my words :), I just rebased to bazzite-deck:testing-44.20260710.5

This version fired up and is booting perfectly, last weekend the latest deck testing didn’t, along with all the previous attempts, I didn’t bother with reporting anything as I seen it was already reported multiple times, I assumed you guys already know of the issues, which is why there is no stable version yet.

Now that I have a version that boots up properly, no black screen issue, I will test it properly and report any bugs moving forwards, just rebasing my development BC-250 boards (Cyan-Skillfish APU) as these are the ones I really wanted the new kernel support for.

So I’m on the newest stable edition of bazzite i have a 5060 and an r5 5600x, so everything works fine but i lag constantly when im on discord or even off discord when I’m in pvz or minecraft i turned steam’s auto update off and all the hardver accaleration off in both discord and steam and i still lag, I lag when i use shaders or even if i don’t and it’s the same everytime like i mive my mouse and it lags in every game. i switched mouses a couple weeks ago before this happened it could be that but idk can someone help me or smth?

Adding this here for visibility. For gnome deck testing, this seems to be a common issues that I also came across: bazzite-deck testing-44 fails to start gamescope session · Issue #5066 · ublue-os/bazzite · GitHub - fix in the discussion.

Also sharing some resources for those interested in testing as well:

Is there and way to access opengamepadui or tdp control in deck testing from gamemode yet?

OGUI - I think you mean guide button + B, like it has for HHD? Yes, the menu does open for me, but it’s very minimal right now. Some settings there don’t seem to be taking effect. I mostly access it because usually, when connecting my controller, the layout is for steam deck, not xbox. So I have to change it there.

TDP, I’m not sure. I haven’t come across it. I keep hearing that it might be built into steam (I’m guessing like steam deck quick access menu), but I don’t think it’s there???
