I froze after accidentally opening 80 videos, then rebooted. When the laptop came to, everything seemed normal except the keyboard backlight simply cannot be turned on.
I ran ls /sys/class/leds/
and the system seems to still detect a keyboard backlight.
I tried rpm-ostree rollback
, nothing
I tried booting into linux mint on a usb, doesn’t turn on there.
So I’m wondering if this is really a hardware issue and my leds are fried for whatever reason.
I also tried sudo systemctl start systemd-backlight@backlight:amdgpu_bl0
and bl1, then checking their status:
Which model laptop do you have? I have the TUF Gaming A16 FA617NT and also ran into this same issue. All other LEDs work, including the caps lock indicator, but the keyboard backlight will not turn on.
I have the same make and same LED situation here! Worried nobody else had this issue.
How & when did this problem occur and what attempts have you made to fix it? Additionally any software you installed prior? Just grasping at straws to guess at a common cause.
I don’t remember honestly. One day it worked, and then one day I noticed. I tried controlling it via the ROG App and also by manually editing the files in /sys
to no avail. It doesn’t even light up in BIOS which is odd.
The only thing I haven’t tried is temporarily installing Windows, which I’d do as an absolute last resort (and would probably swap to the OEM M.2 SSD for that).
By any chance, have you opened up your laptop?
I see. And no, I haven’t opened it up.
(Additionally, I tried rebasing to an older bazzite image, but clearly that didn’t work. I’m just about convinced of the worst-case scenario.)
