Anyone got racing wheels to work in games?

Hello there,

In the Bazzite 43 announcement, there is mention of improved steering wheels support. While I got Oversteer to recognize my Driving Force GT, it does not show up in games. I’ve tried multiple games –GRID 2, Asseto Corsa Competizione and DiRT Rally, the latter being supposedly a native Linux port– and each case tried disabling Steam Input. Have I missed something?

Cheers!

I’m going to try my Moza R5 today. Will let you know how it goes. For Boxflat (Moza equivalent of Oversteer) it says some sort of udev rules are needed and boxflat warns you if you do not have those rules set and takes care of them for you. Maybe you might need to do something similar? Might want to check Oversteer github.

Anyway, I will let you know how my testing goes as soon as possible.

I’ve got a Moza R3 wheel and pedal set, they are detected fine and can be configured via boxflat and work with every game that doesn’t have proton issues which for me is only Assetto Corsa Rally but hopefully that is fixed very soon.

Just tested Moza R5 and works perfectly fine. Only tried Le Mans Ultimate though.

I have a Moza R5 fully working as well, there was an error last week with Boxflat with it using EOL packages, I raised an issue on Github and I think its been fixed already, but it had no effect on it working though.

I tried once again with DiRT Rally and it worked once I changed the compatibility layer to Proton Hotfix. The same setting did not work with Assetto Corsa Competizione though

The only difference I see is that DiRT is a native Linux game whereas Assetto Corsa Competizione is running under Proton.

I strongly suggest using GE-Proton for simracing games. Valve’s proton versions lack many features GE-Proton has, like winetricks being applied by default, certain fixes for wheel setup etc. Give it a try and see if it helps.

Well, in the case of ACC, it was a PEBKAC: I forgot that this game does not automatically maps steering wheels’ axises and buttons, you have to do it manually.

As for the other Proton-powered games I own, since I have limited disk space, I haven’t re-installed and retried.
