Hi everyone,

I’m interested in learning about the best way to troubleshoot printing issues on an immutable Linux desktop, such as a Universal Blue image.

When a printer is detected but documents don’t print correctly, it can be difficult to determine whether the issue comes from CUPS, the printer driver, the network connection, or the application itself.

For those who use Universal Blue, what troubleshooting steps do you recommend?

Some areas I’m curious about include:

- Checking whether CUPS detects the [printer correctly](https://testmyprint.com/).

- Verifying the printer queue and connection status.

- Identifying missing packages or driver compatibility issues.

- Testing whether the same document prints correctly from another application.

Once the printer is working, a printer test page can also help identify physical output issues. One resource for standard printer test pages.

I’d appreciate any recommended commands, tools, or troubleshooting guides for diagnosing printing problems on Universal Blue.

Thanks!
