If nothing is broken, they won’t have much left for content generation. “How I literally changed the actual color of my top bar ALONE in Starbucks”
And a lot of Linux YouTubers are like notetaking YouTubers (and others), they don’t have work to apply their skills to, they are just generating content. There can be a loss of perspective.
This certainly feels like the major argument I’ve come across regarding immutable/atomic systems. I haven’t tested all the immutable/atomic systems myself, but in my view, they really can’t make that argument for uBlue-based systems. Everything’s on Github, you can use uBlue’s image-template to build your custom fork or you can use BlueBuild if you want to go strictly YAML. You’re customizing and tweaking but in a different way.
There are people who don’t like mutable distros for various reasons including what they perceive as loss of control to another party/developer and either build their system through gentoo or LFS/Linux From Scratch. This also illustrates the beauty of Linux to me, the amount of choice not only in applications and distros but finding a workflow that fits your perspective and level of trust. If you trust the developers of an immutable/atomic system that they want to create a better Linux experience for you in which things work out of the box, then you can use them. If you don’t trust them for whatever reason, you can go find a mutable distro that provides the level of control you require. If not, there’s LFS. There’s multiple somethings for everyone.
