# Printer drivers

Sorry if this bad practice but the thread was locked after two days. Why aren’t printers IPP or IPP over usb or Bluetooth? I’ve worked on some high end printing (magazines) and we were using this tech over 20 years ago because it was easier and more reliable to create a protocol then support drivers for 45 poorly calibrated machines

If I could get the error code (printer or from Linux) there’s - good chance there’s a way to skip the driver as there are government regulations that demand IPP.

I would guess there’s an SSL cert that’s preventing things from working. Things like this make me angry there’s no need for drivers.
