For now, the commercial VPNs with flatpak support are Proton VPN and Surfshark.

I don’t think so. VPN needs to run at system level. Correct me if I am wrong.

You can layer the rpm or add the nordvpn repo to your install (if nordvpn provides a repo for it), that is mostly the only way to get these VPN apps to work properly.

Another way is to download openvpn configuration from Nordvpn and use NetworkManager to connect to them. This way, you don’t need their proprietary app.

Fedora NordVPN Repository

To install NordVPN on Fedora, you can add the NordVPN repository to your system. First, download the repository package using the following command:

```auto
wget https://repo.nordvpn.com/deb/nordvpn/debian/pool/main/nordvpn-release_1.0.0_all.deb
```

That looks like a debian repo (propably a typo?).

Also you would need to move it to the /etc/yum.repo.d (can’t check the correct path right now, but if i remember right the repo path is that one).

And then you would need to install the nordvpn package

I think most consumer VPN companies offer the option to connect to their server using openvpn, because that’s how they manage to let your home router to connect to them if you want to do so.
Maybe login to their web page and find the tutorial of it.

I got Nordvpn working by going to my Nordvpn account -advanced settings -set up Nordvpn manually. you can get the set up configuration there , download them and and use them in network manger. You have to verify your email in order to get the relevant username and password to enter into the manager ..pretty straight forward. I also used the openVPN config files (I preferred this on Bluefin) tjust add the VPN and go to the downloaded file either UDP or TCP (your choice) add the relevant username and password via the verification.Tested on the Nordvpn whats my IP and works a treat .
Sorry for my inadequate explanation. Hope it helps someone
