Franken Universal Blue - KDE plus GNOME has it been tried?

Obviously it would be a QA challenge, but has anybody actually tried using the Universal Blue base and making a KDE + GNOME image.

What other than which login manager to use, what are the practical issues that come up?

It is messy. Having done that in the past with other distros, you have issues with apps, keyrings, cluttered menus and config files that don’t clearly separate between desktop environments so fonts and themes and other preferences get jumbled up.

It’s not a great experience. The way you get around this is by running two separate images and somehow containerize your dotfiles in it but keep your home directory intact. I don’t see how it can be easily done without major problems.

Yea, and as I understand it KDE will try and do things if you have gnome apps installed to make them integrate better (without telling you). Might be an interesting claude experiment though  Maybe tell it to segment gnome and kde apps in different folders in each launcher menu and other stuff.

Igor… pull the lever!
